How to Wear Sneaker Wedges Efficiently, Stylishly and Boldly

This fall trade in your regular running sneakers for sneaker wedges. They have a hidden wedge in them to add height and elongate the legs of the women wearing them. The trend can be credited to Isabel Marant’s concept of blending fashion and comfort. She had the desire to have longer looking legs and use to insert pieces of cork into her vintage sneakers for added height as a teenager. Designers have jumped on this trend in record numbers and are flooding their collections offering them in different fabrics, trims, embellishments and above all else price points. Prices range from $60 Sketchers to Isabel Marant $300 version. With these many options hitting the stores for fall, it leaves one with the question – How do I wear them?

Casually

You do not have to run out and buy an outfit just to wear this new trend. Everything in your closet can be paired with them starting with jeans. Whether they are skinny, straight leg, flare or boot cut-which will make your foot look smaller- jeans are a staple that can go with any trend. For a more contemporary look, pair sneaker wedges with your favorite pair of colored skinny jeans, embellished top or chunky knit sweater and leather jacket. For a weekend relaxed look, one may go with dark denim boot cut jeans, t-shirt layered with a button down and/or favorite sweater.

Work

Women have been wearing sneakers to work for decades. They are the equivalent of wearing flip-flops with dress pants. The extra incentive with wedges are it gives you enough height to not let your dress pants touch the ground. Depending on your place of employment’s dress code – dress pants, a crisp white button down and blazer does not look bad paired with black sneaker wedges. If you forget to change into your work shoes, not many individuals will be able to tell the difference.

Skirts & Shorts

Catering to the younger trendy crowd, team them with shorts or mini-skirts for fall. Since shorts are worn all year-round – tights included- do not be afraid to wear this trend with your favorite blouse, cardigan sweater, and chunky knit scarf. From mini’s to asymmetrical skirts, you can give your outfit edge by pairing your suede studded or color blocked velcro sneaker wedges. In addition, show off your legs with statement tights, leggings, knee-high socks.
